In the 10+ years we have lived here near Radnor Lake, we have never had such in influx of hummingbirds as we have had since the remnants of Hurricane Katrina passed through this area. We are seeing 10-15 at one time and are having a hard time keeping our two feeders refilled. Actually, it's only one that needs to be refilled often because the other has become the sole property of one immature or female that spends its little life chasing away any other hummer that comes near. Most of the time it's on the feeder itself, sometimes on a nearby bush as a staging area for its attacks on anything that ventures near its feeder. Of course all the others do their share of dive-bombing each other, but it's not unusual to see three or four feeding at the same time--not exactly the Peaceable Kingdom, but good enough for Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.
