If you still don't have Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and need to see them, come to our yard this weekend. Yesterday morning we counted almost 40 at the three feeders on the kitchen side of our house and there were several more at the three feeders on the back deck. The Bradford Pear trees in the front yard seemed to be growing hummers as they sat among the limbs waiting to push their way into a port at the feeders. The long, lean females appear to be outnumbering the males about 2 to 1, so there should be lots of babies later this summer. Right now their aerial antics are awesome and it is downright dangerous to sit on the deck as these mini-missiles rocket by.
