Actually in the tropics it is know and has been researched that butterflies follow the feeding flocks of birds for the hard to get mineral content of their droppings. It follows that it may be the same here. It is one circus when these flocks find and follow a movement of army ants; you're surrounded by activity with 25+ species of birds, hundreds of butterflies, insects and small animals running for their lives and you in the middle trying not to step on one of the hundreds of threads of ants swarming all around you.......... It don't get much better. You can't hear yourself phish.......... Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
