Ii is interesting that David Stone notes the increase of nesting
activity of House Wrens. We have our first confirmed active nesting site
on our farm in Warren County (Rock Island area) this week (6/8/06),
nesting in a wren house.

Changing the subject, Susan and I noted a rookery on Upper Center Hill
Lake about 1/2 mile below the Rock Island State Park swimming area on
the White County side of the lake. While boating, we observed 6 heron
nests (they appeared to be night heron nest size) on the north end of a
small island and one nest on across the channel that looked too large
and had the characteristics of an Osprey nest (6/9/06). No activity was
seen at either nesting area.

Has anyone who birds the White County area noted activity in the
rookery, and if so, when and what species?

Subject: [TN-Bird] House Wrens Increasing ?

I have lived here 24 years and had never seen a House Wren until
2001. For least the last 3 years some have been nesting in Bluebird
boxes at The Honors golf course near Chattanooga (including eggs right
now). Hopefully we will not get too much of a good thing as they keep
filling up several houses with sticks. This year they have become more
sinister and have filled some boxes with Blackberry and Dewberry briers!
