The weather on the plateau has been blistering hot but the yard birding has been good. Today we had a spectacular male Brewster's Warbler, female American Redstart, Great-crested Flycatcher, male and female Hooded Warblers, male and female Yellow Warblers, Red-tailed Hawk, and 4 Common Nighthawks. In the past few days we've seen Worm-eating Warbler, Blue Grosbeak, Yellow-throated, White-eyed and Red-eyed Vireos, female Cerulean Warbler, male Blue-winged Warbler, male and female Orchard Orioles, female Summer Tanager, Cedar Waxwings, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Lincoln Sparrow, and Eastern Kingbird. An immature Eastern Wood Peewee joined the mature one that has been in the yard all summer and now we have more chases than an L.A. newscast. Can't wait for the real migration to come.
