The hooded crane remained in view from 2:55 p.m. until dusk in the slough at
the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs Co. today. There were thousands of
sandhill cranes, but many appeared to head south. Visitors from 15 states were
present. New Hampshire, and Connecticut visitors represented states first noted
today.  85 visitors were counted today. The total visits since Dec. 13 now
total at least 2058!People from 7 countries and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico
have visited the refuge. 37 states and the District of Columbia are now
represented in the total number of visits.

I just got a call from a visitor at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs Co.
at Birchwood. He said that the hooded crane was located a little before 3 p.m.
standing near a whooping crane.
