Radnor Lake
Davidson Co.

This morning I walked the road at Radnor for the first time this fall to
see what waterfowl had come in. The great majority were Ring-necked Ducks,
with quite a few Canada Geese, Gadwall and Ruddy Ducks, a couple Mallards,
Pied-billed Grebes, one Horned Grebe, and two beautiful male Hooded
Mergansers. The mergansers were straight across from the road where the
platform
with the permanent scope is. They got up on a log and preened for quite a
while. The Horned Grebe was at the eastern end of the lake. A juvenile
Red-headed Woodpecker was in the woods at the east end just before getting to
the lake from the east parking lot.
