Oops! I should have checked by life bird checklist before the earlier post. I
discovered that I'd seen a blue-headed vireo once before.

A mid-afternoon visit to the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in
Meigs County at Birchwood produced several good species, including a life bird
for me. The life bird was a blue-headed vireo. I first started to look for it
near the viewing area when I heard a song that was unfamiliar to me. Other
sightings from the same area included some golden-crowned kinglets, at least
one brown-headed nuthatch, a pine warbler, and 3 duck species: wood,
ring-necked, and northern shoveler. I also saw two immature bald eagles. From
the observation ramp at the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park, also in Meigs
County, an adult bald eagle was noted.
