Birded the Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery in Clinton, Anderson County, today from
1:05 pm - 2 p.m. Observed 7 Great Blue Herons sitting on 5 of the 8 nests
that I detected.

Waterfowl included a pair of Redheads, a female Ruddy Duck and a Lesser
Scaup (all on the upper pond). A small flock of 18 Buffleheads kept moving
around... they're very skittish. Whenever they'd hear my tires on the
gravel they'd take off and fly to a different pond.

A nice treat was 10 Eastern Meadowlarks singing in a tree by the river just
north of the heronry.

Canada Goose 2
Gadwall 2
Mallard 17
Redhead 2
Lesser Scaup 1
Bufflehead 18
Ruddy Duck 1
Great Blue Heron 8
American Coot 1
Killdeer 2+
Ring-billed Gull 300+
Belted Kingfisher 1
