We had our first of season Dark-eyed Junco in the yard this morning.
I saw a flock of 6 or 7 probable Evening Grosbeaks this morning from our
church parking lot at about 9:15. I heard them calling and saw them flying
in the treetops across the road. I was standing by my vehicle and tried to
get binoculars out and on them but they had moved on before I could get
them in view, but their calls, size, flight style and flashes of white
seemed diagnostic for Evening Grosbeaks. Other than the male and female
which visited our yard for about an hour in 2012, these are the only ones
I've seen here in this county ever.
Camden, Benton County
At about 2 pm today my husband and I saw a flock of about 30 Pine Siskins
in a weedy lot near the Camden Walmart.
