Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Being a somewhat inexperienced birder, can anyone help me identify a = hawk that has been frequenting my yard/woods? I have embedded two = photos. If they do not show up please tell me and I will e-mail them = directly to you. The hawk has been hunting the open woods (it is mowed = regularly) directly behind my house (about 40-50 yards away). It comes = to the same perch at about the same time every morning. In this same = area I spread out corn for deer and squirrels. (It keeps the squirrels = away from my bird feeders in the front yard.) He occasionally flies = down and walks around on the ground. He also seems to be hunting for = frogs over the creek in the area. What's amazing is the Blue Jays and = Crows that also come to the corn pay him absolutely no mind. Also, the = squirrels pay him no mind. I haven't seen him take any prey yet, but I = assume there are mice coming to the corn as well. There are numerous = mole tunnels in the area. My first guess was an immature Red-tailed hawk, but now I'm not so sure = because of his behavior. <<ole0.bmp>>=20 <<ole1.bmp>>=20 Thanks, Mack McGhee, Jr. Roane County Harriman, TN "May your viewfinder be forever filled with beautiful images!" =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation.
