Here's an interesting note (at least I thought so). I was driving up our
road here
in western NC (hey it's almost Tennessee) yesterday and as I came around a
corner
one of our resident Red-shoulder Hawks tumbled out of an oak tree by the
side of the
road and was immediately assaulted by a Kingbird. What was interesting
was that the
Kingbird did not just harass the hawk, it actually landed on its back just
below the
nape of the neck and hung on as the hawk flew away It was very cool. They
disappeared into the woods on the other side of the road a few seconds
later with
rider in the saddle so to speak.
