Our own Wallace Coffey will be presenting a lecture entitled "Studying
Hawks, Owls & Eagles in the Southern Appalachians" on Thursday evening
(4/4/02) at 7:30 PM at the Higher Education Center in Abingdon, VA. There is
no fee.

Coffey will be showing slides on his first-hand experiences climbing to
nests of hawks and owls to band their young. He'll tell stories about
trapping and banding hawks and eagles in winter. Wallace has been
instrumental in helping to restore eagle populations in our area.

Coffey is the former editor of "The Migrant" the Tennessee Journal of
Ornithology, a leading ornithologist in the south and an all around great
