Hello Birders,
The Mockingbirds that nest across the street from me in Charlotte Park, West
Nashville, Davidson County, near the Cumberland River proudly announce the
hatching of their first nest full of babies. Both parents are diligently
toting
beaksful of peanut butter on endless trips back and forth across the road.

A summer tanager appeared in the neighborhood, called briefly and left.
Guess he's a new bird "near" the yard.

For two days, I have not seen the pair of song sparrows that WERE carrying
nesting material down to the woodpile at the end of the deck. I guess they
were
just doing a practice run on nest building or had interference that made the
place unacceptable after all.

My little house wren is on its nest, and the mate is still perched on a grape
vine just a few feet away just singing his sweet song AND swinging in the
breeze on that grape vine.

Male cardinals are carrying grape jelly, possibly "sweets for their sweets,"
who seem to be sitting on their nests. I don't know of any babies yet.

A blue-winged warbler graced me with its vocalizing high in a hackberry tree,
then gave me a lightening flash of color as it flew out of here toward the
river a few blocks away.

Cheers & prayers,

Dee Thompson
Nashville, TN
