What a great day at the lake -- in the middle of winter!!
Jim Arnett's post before noon and the warm weather sent me rushing out
to the Hamilton Creek Rec. Area Boat Ramp on J. Percy Priest Lake for
a very early lunch break.
Jim was still there and found the WESTERN GREBE for me in the middle
of the lake. It eventually came in relatively close to shore. Chloe
and Nolan Walker and then Josh Stevenson also appeared. From the
point to the right of the boat ramp, Chloe and I found the trifecta of
loons, Red-throated, 2 Pacific, and of course several Common. So it
was a fantastic morning.
By the way Phillip Casteel just called about 3:40 pm and said that his
extensive search finally netted him the Red-throated Loon as well. It
popped up out of nowhere just 40 yard or so from shore, so he got
killer looks at it.
