All sightings in Hamilton County, TN Osprey: 2 birds; 1 on channel marker, one perched in tree north of marker at Pinky's Point Seen from Harrison Bay State Park Virginia Rail: 1 bird calling intermittently at Standifer Gap Marsh from 12:30 - 12:50PM Tree Swallow: 1 bird over pond by entrance to Standifer Gap Marsh from Standifer Gap Road Cedar Waxwing: several flocks totaling between 800 and 1,000 birds in the vicinity of Shallowford Road and Center Street. Feeding on holly berries and blossoms of blooming trees. Looked over carefully--all Cedars. Largest flock I recall seeing in Hamilton County ever! Double-crested Cormorant: 1 bird in slough south of Booker T. Washington State Park. My first of the year in Hamilton County and 110th species for county for 2005.
