[TN-Bird] Hamilton County, TN Birding

We had one of the better one day species  in Hamilton County on 4/23. I
personally observed 116 species and our group (Clyde Blum, Daniel
Jacobson, Patricia Dover-Bedwell) as a whole saw at least 120.
 

Highlights included:

Tennessee Aquarium Members fieldtrip at the Cravens House:

-          10 species of raptors including a Merlin

-          17 species of warblers including:

-          2 Tennesee

-          2 Nashville

-          3 Chestnut-sided

-          5 Cape May

-          2 Blackburnian

-          1 Bay-breasted

-          8 Blackpoll

-          1 Cerulean

-          1 American Redstart

-          1 Worm-eating

-          4 Hooded

-          1 Canada

 

-          4 Blue-headed Vireo

-          17 Scarlet Tanager

-          20 Rose-breasted Grosbeak

-          1 Baltimore Oriole

 

Riverport

-          32 male Bobolinks

-          1 male Blue Grosbeak

 

Brainerd Levee

      -     3 American Bittern

      -     1 Marsh Wren

      -     1 Sedge Wren

      -     2 Sora

      -     15 Greater Yellowlegs

      -      6 Lesser Yellowlegs

      -      2 Pectoral Sandpiper

 

Standifer Gap Marsh

-          1 Least Bittern

-          1 Virginia Rail

-          2 Gadwall

Misc. 

-          1 Female Bufflehead at a pond off Riverside Drive

-          1 Peregrine Falcon at the usual place on railroad bridge
below Chickamauga Dam (had three falcon species)

-          1 basic plumaged Common Loon on Chickamauga Lake.
