Jeff Wilson called earlier today and said that Mike Todd had found a Gull-billed Tern in Dyer County this morning. This bird was seen at the jct. of Hwy. 103 and the Great River Road (Hwy. 181). This is the first known occurrence of this coastal species in the Volunteer state! I talked to Jeff at 3 pm and he was in the area with Mike but that bird had disappeared before Jeff got there from Memphis. They were searching fo the bird this afternoon. Jeff did have 3 Whimbrels near the jct. of Hwy. 103 and the Great River Road while searching for the tern. Hopefully this great bird can be relocated. Anyone interested in the latest on their search can reach Jeff on his cell phone @ 901-487-8521. Good birding, Mark Greene Trenton, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net is owned by the Tennessee Ornithological Society Neither the society(TOS) nor its moderator(s) endorse the views or opinions expressed by the members of this discussion group.
