Thank you very much for your great drections!!! This is an absolute beautiiful
Western Grebe speciman first spotted around 8:30 AM (Be Still My Heart!) this
morning by Stephen and Rebecca Satterfield. Patsy Shoffner soon joined us,
then a while later Bill Sullivan joined in all the excitement, as the bird put
on an absolute show for us. It stayed almost in the same area of water the
entire time. Just before we left, around 12:30 PM John Henderson showed up
with a group from Chattanooga and all were amazed the Grebe was so easy to see.
Congratulations on your Great find and thanks again for sharing it with all of
us. Good Birding and Good luck to all!

TN Birders,
As I have already had a couple of requests for directions to the area
Aechmorphorus spp. Was located I thought I would send it out to everyone at
once.

If you are headed north on Highway 33 turn right onto Hickory Valley Road (just
before the BP station), then right onto Walker Ford Road just as you cross
Dodson Creek, then you will turn left on to Black Fox Road. Take Black Fox
Road until you cross the old steel girder bridge that crosses Hogskin Creek.
There is an informal parking area on the left. Yesterday the bird was swimming
approx. 100 meters off this point towards the main channel of the reservoir.
That's about as close as I can get you form here. Good luck, I hope some others
see this bird. It was certainly my first look at one.
