April 17, 2011 TN/AR State line Saturday, I received great photographs of an unexpected visitor to our area. On April 2, 2011, a Greater Roadrunner was photographed, in a private gated area just off the river, across from Memphis. Google Maps indicate the bird was just under 2,000 feet from the TN/AR State line. I visited the home where the photos were taken yesterday, to confirm the exact location and found good habitat for the bird nearby. All the bird has to do is walk across the bridge to visit Memphis;o) The closest Roadrunner to TN that I know of, was a bird seen near the Mark Tree/Tyronza area, some years ago. There are quite a few listed sightings in eastern AR, but this may be the first in any county bordering the Mississippi River. Once, Lula Coffee had me check out a reported Roadrunner sighting in Memphis; nothing could be confirmed but the area and the individual's experience with the species was quite convincing.
