[TN-Bird] Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets & Double Crested Coromorants at Rankin & Dutch Bottoms

Birders:( Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets & Double Crested Coromorants at 
Rankin & Dutch Bottoms )



This morning Shane Adams on Sept. 21, 2005 went birdwatching at Rankin & Dutch 
Bottoms in Cocke County today here are lists of Waders, Waterfowl, and 
Shorebirds I saw they are : Wading Birds ( 12 + Great Blue Herons, 30+ Great 
Egrets at Rankin and Dutch Bottoms and both sides of the Bridge coming in from 
White Pine and going into Cocke County ) Waterfowl : 20 + Double Crested 
Coromrants on the mudflats in Dutch Bottoms including the Great Blue Herons and 
Great Egrets 2 Double Crested Comorants at Rankin behind the Coal Tipple, Wood 
Duck Drake in front of the coal tipple ( a quick note the access road is 
completely uncovered and water is almost back into the French Broad River, 
another Wading Birds: Green Heron at Rankin & Dutch Bottoms on the mudflats in 
the middle of the Douglas Lake more Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets on the 
left side of the railroad tracks on Jefferson City side, ShoreBirds: Plovers, 
12+Killdeer at Rankin including at Dutch Bottoms on mudflats and gravel road on 
the banks in front of Douglas Lake in Cocke County.
