Hi Birders,

About 3:30 PM today, I was driving on Thunderbird just east of Starliner in
the Charlotte Park section of West Nashville where I observed a HUGE flock of
common grackles flying southeast. They just kept coming, and I estimated there
were at least a thousand birds in the flock. I did not see anything in the
flock except common grackles.

Right now, I have two "lady" ruby-throated hummingbirds "at war" at my feeder
at my Charlotte Park home. One appears to be unusually long and skinny, so I
have dubbed her "Long, Tall Sally" after a song that was a hit in my youth.
They are feuding, fighting and feeding the evening away.

My six Eurasian-collared doves have been feeding all day with short rests in
my hackberry tree between "courses" at Dee's Smorgabird. They sure can vacuum
up the food!

All the other "usual suspects" have been enjoying food and water on this hot
day.

Dee Thompson
