Closing out the year with a good couple of hours around Williamson county this
morning. First, just before sunrise I found a female Merlin perched high in a
tall tree along Old Charlotte Pk. near (on?) Gentry’s Farm. On Carter’s Creek
Pk the pair of nesting Bald Eagles were perched along the lake enjoying the
morning sun in spite of the 13 degree temperature. Later, while driving down
Long Lane east of I-65, I saw a large group of Canada Geese on the shore of a
private pond. Upon a closer look, there were at least 3 Cackling Geese amongst
them. 12 Hooded Mergansers were also on the pond.
Good Birding and Happy New Year!
