[TN-Bird] Goldfinches, etc.

As rain approaches from the west toward the Charlotte Park section of West
Nashville, five goldfinches joined my merry mob of sunflower seed munchers on
the feeder outside my kitchen window. As I stood there eating my morning
banana (potassium for us old folks!), the little lovelies in their winter garb
alternated between that sunflower seed feeder and the thistle feeder in front
of the dining room-deck door. Goldfinches come by here regularly but not
daily, so they are always a special joy.

It seems that MORE white-throated sparrows came in overnight, and I had
quite a flock at daybreak.

The 20+ mourning doves are feeding now, and the song sparrow is right in the
"big middle" of the bunch where it is eating rapidly.

Late yesterday, one of my Carolina wrens became quite feisty and was chasing
all the sparrows away from the food which I scatter on the deck. I don't
remember ever seeing any of my wrens being so aggressive. It seemed to want
the whole "smorgabird" for itself!
