Soddy Mtn Hawk Lookout
Hamilton Co., Tn
Today shortly after noon we had a Golden Eagle fly directly over head, however,
it's
not countable. As we all had our chairs facing north to see approaching
Broad-winged
Hawks this eagle flew from south to north. It's small golden head gleamed in
the sunlight
as it circled.
I wonder if SCOTT SUMMERSHOE could check with someone with TWRA who could
possibly be
tracking their Golden Eagles and let us know if this was one of theirs? He
flew in
from the south very near Soddy Lake and continued in a NNE direction toward
Dayton, Tn.
Being the scoundrel that I am, tomorrow if a Golden Eagle just happens to fly
back north
to south, I'll just be forced to count it!!!
Yesterday, 9/16/15 was our biggest Broad-winged flight of the 2015 season. We
had 214 BW's
fly over in a few minutes between 12 and 1 O'clock. Today wasn't anything to
write home
eeerrr post to tn-birds about...
While on the deck just minutes ago, I watched about 50 Chimney Swifts swirl
around and then
drop out of the sky to find lodging in my neighbors chimney.
