Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton County December 11, 2007, 10:00 AM GLOSSY IBIS, looking like adult breeding, very dark green/black wings, rest of body dark rusty brown, dark brown bill, dark eyes (not red), viewed wading/feeding bird in bright light from 25 feet for 10 minutes. Location: Take the gravel road almost to the gate, stop where it would be possible for a pickup to turn left along the edge of the mowed grass. Walk along the edge of the grass along the black plastic fence about 500 feet to the second small pond on your right, about 2/3 of the way to the ditch area. It flew a short distance but apparently did not leave the area. I am aware of the difficulty of distinguishing between Glossy and White-faced, but this had all indications of adult Glossy.
