Had a decent day in the yard with quite a bit of warbler movement but not a
whole lot of variety. I was really excited to find a Brewster's Warbler in
the mix! This is a first for me, and I had the adrenaline rush of a life
bird (even though *technically* it isn't). Its underparts had extensive
yellow, but it was very, very faint yellow. It wasn't really a textbook
Brewster's, but of course there is quite a bit of variation. My guess is
that it was a female/juvenile bird, but I don't have any knowledge on
aging/sexing Brewster's. I did get a few poor pictures of the bird before it
disappeared, so if anybody wants to take a look I'll be glad to email them.
I thought it was pretty cool that there was also a female/juv Blue-winged
and an adult male Golden-winged Warbler in the mix. Too bad there wasn't a
Lawrence's!
Highlights for the morning include:
Great-crested Flycatcher - 1
Wood Thrush - 1
Swainson's Thrush - 1
Gray-cheeked Thrush - 1
Blue-winged Warbler 1
Brewster's Warbler (hybrid) 1
Golden-winged Warbler 1
Tennessee Warbler 6
Northern Parula 1
Chestnut-sided Warbler 3
Magnolia Warbler 8
Black-throated Green Warbler 3
Pine Warbler 2
Black-and-white Warbler 2
American Redstart 3
Common Yellowthroat 2
Hooded Warbler 1

Good Birding!
