From Janet McKnight:
Join KTOS members Janet Lee McKnight and Jay Sturner for a casual gathering of
friends at Magee Marsh on the Lake Erie shore. This area has become famous for
its concentration of spring migrants and the ease of seeing them, as they
hesitate on the brushy shoreline before crossing Lake Erie to Canada. Warblers
are often so close that you don't need your binoculars! No warbler neck here!
Jay will be at Magee Marsh from May 3rd till May 10th (limited availability),
and Janet will be there sometime that weekend, depending on the help she can
find to cover her businesses and 8 dogs. Janet has been going to Magee Marsh
every spring since 2002, and she knows the area well enough to answer most
This trip will be unstructured and unguided, as there are plenty of volunteers
on the boardwalk already, should one need identification help. We will just
casually keep company with one another as we bird the boardwalk and surrounding
areas. Moving in and out of the group at any time is OK, there are no rules to
this one! We just want to see familiar faces on the boardwalk and share this
spectacle of spring migration with friends from home.
Please call Janet with any planning questions (865-271-8337) you may have about
the area (or email: JanetTheDogChick@xxxxxxxxx). If you haven't been to Magee
Marsh in May, you are in for a fantastic treat!=================NOTES TO
