I just remembered that I had promised Jan Shaw that I would post this. Last Saturday (August 30), I joined the Nashville chapter of TOS on a field trip to the Gallatin Steam Plant (Sumner Co.). About a dozen members attended. We found a decent number of shorebirds in three different settling ponds, including: Semipalmated Plover - 3-4 Lesser Yellowlegs - 2 Stilt Sandpiper - 4 Semipalmated Sandpiper - 25+ Least Sandpiper - 150+ Almost all of the shorebirds were juveniles (although we did find one adult Least). Also of note: Snowy Egret - 2 Caspian Tern - 8 Blue-winged Teal - 30+ Osprey - 2 Cooper's Hawk - 1 A short stop at Bledsoe Creek State Park (Sumner Co.) yielded one Wild Turkey sitting on a branch while we were eating lunch. -- Chris Sloan Nashville, TN My photos: http://csloan.smugmug.com =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
