I have had a similar experience w/ turkeys this year in Kingston and Oak
Ridge. Heard some clucking in my woods this spring, then nothing until
this fall. In previous years I frequently saw turkeys on my way to Oak
Ridge on Rt. 95 at K-25 Site, but this year has been a turkey drought.
Finally saw a tom and 4 hens 2 weeks ago.

I was delighted this morning when I pulled up to work and saw 10
turkeys.
Although, I know this is not an unusual species, it has been over a year
since
I've seen a flock of turkeys here on the school property. Last
summer/fall
there was construction on a new building. All during that construction
and
until today, I did not see any groups of turkeys. In fact, it is only
in the
last few months that I've even seen single turkeys.
