Apparently upon departing the stint location yesterday, one group of
birders had a negative interaction with someone who said they had no
business being there.
So it sounds like if *anyone* interacts with a farmer/landowner there,
PLEASE tell them that birders have had permission to walk the weedy areas
around the water in the past and that none of us has seen someone to ask
for continued permission this year. Tell them we carefully avoid the crops
and are only looking and taking photos. Upcoming dove and teal seasons may
have someone thinking we are scouting for hunting spots or something.
This site has typically been visited only a couple of times a week and by
single birders or small groups, so the added attention that more cars and
people bring to the situation may not be good.
The situation now sounds somewhat tenuous, so please do whatever you can to
accommodate landowner concerns.
