[tn-bird] Re: Fwd: The eggs in the nest

If the eggs were laid this season, very unlikely they are House Wren, as
House Wrens normally return to TN until mid-April. Other possibilities
based on nest site and date are House Finch, Carolina Wren, and House
Sparrow. House Finch nest is normally an open-topped cup, and the eggs are
pale blue with a few black dots. Carolina Wren nests are normally domed,
and their eggs are whitish with numerous brown spots, often arranged to form
a distinct wreath around the large end. House Sparrow eggs are white to
greenish with brown and grey spots, and their nest is normally quite bulky.

Without seeing the nest, I'm guessing House Wren, because they tend
to nest in such places. Or Carolina, if HOWR don't nest where you
are.

A friend (who used to be a BIG part of the Bird Banding Lab at
Patuxent) was forced to duct-tape the rust holes in his pickup
because of wrens nesting in them!
