Hello Cat Owner(s): I refer to you one (of several) articles on the very real, documented depredation of birds by cats (pet cats as well as feral or free-ranging cats). I refer you to the published research of Drs. Stanley Temple and John Coleman of the University of Wisconsin. In one study, JUST in the state of Wisconsin, they indicate that "rural cats in Wisconsin are killing an estimated 39 million birds EACH year." That's one state, and a conservative estimate. See popular article in Bird Conservation, Summer Nesting, 1997. They have also published in scientific journals, however, I don't have the citation here.
