----- Original Message ----- From: Robbie Hassler To: TN-BIRD Sent: Tuesday, December 01, 2009 7:49 PM Subject: Sandhill Cranes Sorry, for the late post. On Nov. 28, I had 1,018 Sandhill Cranes migrating over my home in the Love Lady community, Pickett Co., Tennessee. As in the past forty years during the migrating season, I have been honored by these beautiful wild birds choosing this location as part of their time honored route to their winter home. I have never tired of hearing the sound of their call - some in a high pitched, vibrating "crew-w-w", while others sound somewhat like a hoarse, tired old goose that has made the trip so many times they are content to let the younger birds take the lead. I tried very hard to locate a white bird in each group, but no luck. But again I was lucky to have seen the Whooping Cranes three times when they were using this route on their way south.
