If you see color banded Shrikes on your CBC, you might want to report them to
the individual (Dan Bone) below.

Dear *Tennessee* Birders and Christmas Bird Count compilers:

If you, or your CBC participants, see a *Loggerhead Shrike* wearing leg bands,
 *Wildlife Preservation *
*Canada* needs to know the details.
Please report to:
 admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or 1-800-956-6608
The following link takes you to the 2012 Eastern Loggerhead Shrike Report; it
has many details
about the extensive research in Ontario directed at the recovery of this
endangered bird.

(right side-panel)
Wild adults banded in 2012 have OR/SI (Orange over silver) on the right leg and
releases from the breeding programme have YE/SI (Yellow over Silver)on the left
leg as part of their unique 4-colour combos; however, birds banded previously
in the program can have varying combinations and numbers of bands. The leg
bands can be hard to see so please take a careful look. Photos are a great
help...even grainy images.
No geolocators were used this year. It is possible that birds released in
2011 and 2010 are still around and still wearing geolocators.
Please forward this notice to anyone who might be able to help, particularly
CBC participants. Feel free to use this material in newspaper articles,
newsletters, meetings, blogs, social media and press releases and on birding
ListServs.
If you are no longer the compiler for a Christmas bird Count please forward
this Email to the appropriate person.
Thank you,
Dan Bone, 705 887-4691
Volunteer- Wildlife Preservation Canada (and die-hard Christmas Bird Count
participant.)
