For those planning to attend the field trip to Cove Lake in the morning please be aware of serious weather hazards. Predictions for light snow and cold windy conditions will make travel more dangerous than normal. Use your own judgement for your safety. Wind chills are expected to be in the low 20s. Dan Mooney Knoxville, TN 865-789-0806 ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan and Laurie Mooney To: TNBIRDS Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2006 9:03 AM Subject: KTOS Field Trip There will be a KTOS field trip to Cove Lake State Park on Saturday 1/14/06. We will meet in the park in parking lot near the restaurant at 8:00am. We will do a bit of walking on the paved trails near the observation tower and scope the lake for waterfowl. Cove Lake is located in East Tennessee's Campbell County, 30 miles northwest of Knoxville, on U.S. 25W and I-75 between LaFollette and Lake City. From I-75, take Exit #134, travel 1/2 miles on Veterans Memorial Highway and take the first left turn. The park lies within the city limits of Caryville, Tennessee. I would expect see about 40 species with another 15 being reasonable possibilities. We should finish up about noon. DRESS FOR THE WEATHER! Please contact me if you intend to participate.
