Friday May 19
Robertson Co TN Hwy 256
Farm Pond

The Fulvous Whistling Duck of Robertson Co. gave exquisitely close views
Friday morning around 11:30 AM despite a mild drizzle. Once again, farm
implementation in the form of a crop sprayer helped to flush the duck
which was standing with a small group of Canada geese along the far
eastern shore of the pond (directly behind the barn). The FUWD then
followed the geese as they swam to the south side of the pond all the
way to the small cove to the far right nearest the highway. It preened
for quite awhile as the geese and their goslings milled about. He
certainly didn't seem to be too spooked by the little bit of highway
traffic going by. I watched for awhile as he appeared to eat the tops of
the buttercups blooming in the field surrounding the pond.

Went out Sunday afternoon, but did not locate him then and have not
heard if anyone else has since then.

Till next time.
