[TN-Bird] Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Hiwassee

I was able to spend several hours Saturday and a couple of hours Sunday at the 
viewing area on the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs County. I would estimate 
that more than 50 wildlife watchers were there both days from around the state 
and from other states! Late Friday and late Saturday, a few thousand sandhill 
cranes were flying north up the Hiwassee River. These observations would 
support other reports on this blog that the sandhills are beginning to migrate 
north. One whooping crane was seen Sunday at about 3 p.m. A large flock of 
ducks was in the slough at the viewing area. Some visitors thought that they 
were canvasbacks, but others said they were redheads.
