On a cold Sunday morning, stepped out on the back deck and immediately heard a
BLUE-HEADED VIREO singing away in the top of my oak trees. Right on time!
Decided to run through Cove Lake St Pk before church where I found a VESPER
SPARROW.
Location- from park entrance, go to the first stop sign. The bird was on the
left grassy hill near the
basketball/tennis court. It was in the company of Chipping Sparrows.Have had
those in same location other years.
There was also an Osprey looking quite at home eating a huge fish.
Duck numbers have diminished greatly.
Took a quick drive along old HWY 63 / Caryville to listen for Waterthrush where
I heard another Blue-Headed Vireo as well as
2 Louisiana Waterthrush along Cove Creek. Always a thrill to hear them the
first time in Spring. Yellow Throated Warblers as well as Black Throated Green
should be next.....
