Many, many thanks to Damien and Don Simbeck and the rest of the Buffalo
River Chapter in Lawrenceburg for hosting a most wonderful fall TOS
meeting. For those who have not been in that area, David Crockett State
Park is an absolutely wonderful birding venue. The surrounding areas
including Laurel Hill, the Natchez Trace Parkway, and the miles of
excellent shrike habitat just add to the marvelous birding diversity of the
area.
As Damien has noted in a previous correspondence, 102 species were found
over the weekend. But even better, we had the opportunity to explore the
area with genuinely knowledgeable and friendly birders. David Crockett
State Park is a hidden gem that is well worth visiting!
