[TN-Bird] FW: slim pickings.

My results were similar -- almost nobody coming to the feeders at all. However,
that has been the pattern for the last several weeks, including during our
recent cold snap. Very odd winter so far.

Yesterday and today were Cornell Feeder watch days at home. The result is
very unusual. We only observed 17 species, and mostly small numbers. My normal
count over the last two seasons has been 26 to 28 species, with some species
being irregular so the lists vary a little. We are used to having a Cooper's
Hawk swing through and scatter everyone for a few minutes, but did not
observe one sitting around. It would have had to have been around all day to
cause
the skittish bahviour. Several regulars were missing for both days. It would
be interesting to know if anyone shared these doldrums. Ralph and Kay
Brinkhurst. Lebanon, Wilson Co.
