This section of the Emory was good osprey/heron/cormorant territory. They 
should be able to relocate, but it sure has devastated a nice stretch of river 
in addition to wiping out so many nice homes and 
properties. Unfortunately for the affected humans (thank goodness nobody was 
killed), TVA is a federal agency, so receiving just compensation for this 
disaster will be more than problematic...

Wow.  Saw this on the local news after getting back in town late
Sunday and wondered if anyone had mentioned this.  For those
who may not have caught on, the dike that collapsed is one of
those containing the ash pits at Kingston Steam Plant in Roane
Co, TN... a very popular birding spot.  It will be interesting
to see how this will affect management there and access to the
area.  (Not to take away of course from the losses suffered
by those families).
