Dear all,
I wanted all of you to know about this project, though it¹s on the same
weekend as the TOS spring meeting. If you can¹t make the meeting, perhaps
you can help scout out birds for Tennessee Parks and Greenways.

Hello all!

We have officially set the date for our very first bioblitz!! The date is
April 27, 2013 starting at 8 am and we would love for everyone to attend.
The success of this bioblitz may help conserve approximately 1,500 acres of
land in Hickman County! In order for this to succeed, we need your help.

The property is located off Highway 50W in Only, Tennessee. The property
(approximately 1,500 acres) is a primarily forested tract of upland oak
forest (on the ridges) and mesophytic forests (along the streams). In
previous surveys, the egg-mimic darter (1990s) was found in Happy Hollow
Creek. Additionally, nodding rattlesnake root and goldenseal have been
found on the property.

1. Can you attend the bioblitz?

2. Do you have any students that would like to attend? If so, can you
send me a list of people at your university who would like to attend or at
least a number of participants? It would be very helpful to have a general
headcount of attendees for our catering.

3. What is your area of interest (e.g., aquatic surveys, herpetofaunal
surveys), if you have one?

4. Would you be willing to be a team leader? In order to have the most
productive and timely bioblitz as possible, I would love to have ³taxa team
leaders² for groups including: birds, fish, herps, invertebrates, mammals,
and plants. At this time, I have a tentative bird and herp team leader, but
need more!!

We will be providing lunch on site. Please bring any equipment you would
like to use for surveys such as binoculars, identification guides, nets for
terrestrial and aquatic organisms, camera, notebook, and writing utensils.
I will send more information about directions and parking closer to the date
of the event. For your reference, please follow the hyperlink for general
directions to the property. http://mapq.st/XjNflQ

Thanks,
Christie
