I managed to get out most days this week and was rewarded with a number of
FOS/FOY birds (as many are already reporting).
Carter's Creek Lake had Blue-winged Teal and Wood Ducks. A female WODU had
10 young in tow; this seemed early to already have hatched young, but maybe
not. White-eyed Vireo was singing. The Bald Eagle's nest across the field
had an adult and at least one young bird in it.
Park at Harlinsdale Farm: Tree, Barn and Northern Rough-winged Swallows and
Chimney Swifts.
Deerwood Arboretum: Yesterday a Yellow-throated Warbler and Northern Parula
were singing mid-day and a Green Heron was working the edge of a pond.
Today a beautiful male Prothonotary Warbler was silently feeding along the
same pond.
Good birding!
