Birders, Today we had the first Purple Finch at our feeder, earlier I think than any year we remember. Just one male so far. For the last two weeks we have had little flocks of Pine Siskins. The earlier arrival I guess is because of their preferred food in the north, perhaps also the weather systems. Maybe this will be a year for Evening Grosbeaks to show up. It has been a long time. Good birding to all. J. N. Howard, Fiery Gizzard Cove, Marion County
