This morning I birded the Ensley Pits in Memphis (sw Shelby Co.) for a few
hours with Frank Fekel and Danny Shelton. Among the many thousands of
shorebirds, we found 13 species:

Least Sandpiper - thousands
Pectoral Sandpiper - hundreds
Killdeer - hundreds
Semipalmated Sandpiper - dozens
Black-necked Stilt - 10
Semipalmated Plover - 5
Western Sandpiper - 3
Spotted Sandpiper - 3
Solitary Sandpiper - 2
Stilt Sandpiper - 2
American Avocet - 1 juv
Wilson's Phalarope - 1 juv
Baird's Sandpiper - 1 juv

The Fulvous Whistling-Duck remains along with 10-15 Black-bellieds. Yellowlegs
were conspicuously absent. I'm headed back again in the morning.
