Ensley Bottoms
Shelby Co. TN

Just a quick run around, found the immature Black-bellied Whistler hunkered
down resting out of the noon sun. No adults were seen. The numbers of
shorebirds are down but still a few thousand were scattered either by lack of
habitat or raptor harassment. The jump in Western Sandpipers from a single
adult bird on Saturday and Sunday was pretty to say the least with all birds
found yesterday being spiffy juvenile plumaged birds for another first of
season. Not to be out done, a single juvenile Pectoral was also a new for
the season addition and I'm sure others might have been in the mix. As the
numbers of Semipalmated sink, the smart looking young now predominate. What
a difference a few days make in the line up of species, sexes and
ages............
Good Birding !!!
