I spent Sat. morning birding the Pits at Memphis and was rewarded with 13 species of shorebirds including 1 Semipalm. Plover, 4 Wilson's phalaropes and several White-rumped sandpipers. Leaving the Pits, there were a pair of Western kingbirds and 4 Cattle egrets near the 4 lane next to the waste water treatment plant. There was not much of interest in the borrow pits along Riverport Road except an Anhinga sunning in the most northerly pond. Q B. Gray Southaven
