TVA Lake
Shelby Co. TN

Sitting today duck scanning at TVA Lake and listening to the calls of
northward bound Snow, Ross's and White-fronted Geese drifting down through the
low clouds and mist, I heard strident calls that I had not heard in a
while. I jumped out of the truck just in time to find 4 Greater Yellowlegs
flying right over my head, steadily heading north. Are they, the geese and
Sandhill Cranes that I've heard overhead the last few days, pushing the season
or as Leopold put it " burning their bridges". Ahh! sweet spring, now you can
 almost smell it.

What is this feathered thing that lifts my heart to the heavens?
