Hi all, I've been watching the nest of the EW Pewees here for the past couple of weeks. The one remaining nestling grew at what seemed to be an astronomical rate of speed. In the last few days I've seen it flap its wings, while still in the nest. Tonight it decided it was time to try them out for real. At about 6 p.m. it left the nest and has not returned. Two other pewees were seen and heard in another location in the yard, I'm hoping these were the parent birds keeping tabs on the youngster.
